A February Flurry!
February has been a blast. Normally, February can be a bit of a flat month, but we’ve had great weather and there have been so many fun parties and events to attend!
Christian Dior: Designer Of Dreams at the V&A
The month started with the spectacular launch of the Dior Exhibition at the V&A. If you missed the show in Paris then you absolutely must see this one. The London exhibition is more focused on the UK clientele and is an edited version of the Louvre show. The craftsmanship is out of this world and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s pieces really do showcase her immense talent. The show is full of surprises; I don’t want give anything away, so book a ticket and immerse yourself in this wonderful tribute.
Stephen Jones Hats at the Royal Pavilion.
Immediately following V&A was the Stephen Jones exhibition at the Royal Pavilion in Brighton. This is the first time in the Pavilion’s history that they have allowed a show actually within the incredible rooms of George IV’s exotic pleasure palace. The Millinery with the backdrop of this eccentric palace is awe inspiring. It’s difficult to say which has more ‘Wow’ factor, the hats or the interior but the creativity and eccentricity work perfectly together. It is definitely worth taking the train from London (it’s only just over an hour) for a magical afternoon.
I must mention what a joy is it to be on beautiful Elizabeth Street for the annual celebration of Love! The street was in its full glory with blooms and hearts and love shining everywhere.
A Different Tweed
I had a visit from my friend Bronwyn Cosgrove, who was in London for the BAFTA’s. She has just launched a podcast called ‘A Different Tweed’ which focuses on craftsmanship within the fashion world. The first episode opens with an interview with Stephen Jones, followed by the designer of Ferragamo - Paul Andrews. Her third guest is the Oscar winning Costume designer Ruth E Carter from Black Panther. She visited 38 Elizabeth Street to interview me, so make sure you sign up to hear me share many amusing stories from my years in the industry.

BAFTA win - The Favourite
We were full of excitement for Sandy Powell’s win at the BAFTA’s this year. She won Best Costume Designer for her costume vision for the fabulous film The Favourite. Having collaborated with Sandy to create all the jewellery, crown and body pieces for the film, we were so very happy to see her talents recognised. I feel Sandy Powell used the jewellery in such an effective way, that it almost had its own character. We had a great feature in Vogue recently, highlighting that the jewellery can be bought directly from us. They recognised their readers were hungry to wear the beautiful pieces worn by Oliva Colman’s Queen Anne. Having all our jewellery made in our London workshop really does mean your accessory dreams can come true!

London Fashion Week
This season we collaborated with Mark Fast on his knitwear design show, one of the first on London Fashion Week’s hectic schedule. This collection was a different take for Mark, a beautiful muted palette with a very manicured finish. It had an old school Hollywood glamour feel and the textures and fabrics were to die for. The earrings we designed were a mixture of pearl drops and bright neon crystals. They went perfectly. This show has been so well received and we are very pleased.
We also launched our much anticipated new collections during London Fashion Week. At the moment they can be viewed at our Elizabeth Street boutique but very soon they will also be available on our website. Here’s a little overview on the story behind each one...
SAMO - Is a Basquiat inspired Flouro Graphite collection.
Devine DADA – Is a sophisticated collection, given an edge with beautiful ethnic vibes.
Karl –In homage to the great man. The collection was finished on the day of his passing and I as my thoughts were only for Karl, I couldn’t think of anything else to name it. It also has a feel we think he would love. A clean, simple and fashion forward story.
End of an Era.
It has also been a month for reflection, with the loss of 3 very important people from my world of fashion. Karl Lagerfeld, Lee Radziwill and Marella Agnelli (The last swan) . They set the standard for elegance in my lifetime.
Knightsbridge Rocks is our vintage fine jewellery selection curated by Katie Kelly and Branda Tuohy. The current collection showcasing in our boutique is focused on “Essential Gold’ pieces , those vintage pieces that never go out of style. My personal favourite are the Gucci Bamboo bracelets but there are lots of great pieces to mix and match and it really is impossible to get wrong. Please do drop by our boutique and see these vintage gems, and all our other beautiful collections in real life. Spring is on the way and what better way to update your wardrobe than with some fabulous new accessories!
